Arizona is home to the Grand Canyon and an incredible array of dramatic landscapes unlike any found in the rest of the world. I have written about the state in my book "The Arizona Story," put pictures are worth far more than words when attempting to describe the magnitude and beauty of Arizona. This full color portfolio in 8.5 x 11 inch format draws together the best of my photographs of the state that has been my home for over 50 years. Many people think of Arizona as a land of deserts whose burning sands and blistering heat are the image they call to mind. But Arizona has tall mountains and plateaus where cool pine forests thrive and where we can ski during the winter months. And in between the two extreme seasons, the fall colors dazzle the eyes. The high Colorado Plateau is laced with deep gorges, massive canyons representing eons of erosion on a scale not found elsewhere in such profusion. The lower deserts are rich in plant life, including the gigantic Saguaro cacti, which can weigh several tons. Hundreds of other species of cactus, yucca and hardy trees grow in the rich biome that is the Sonoran Desert. The state is home to elk, deer and mountain sheep in the high country, cougars, javelina, raptors and numerous reptiles in its lower deserts. And of course Arizona has been home to mankind for over 2,000 years with rich native cultures having developed, many of whom still occupy their native lands. And lastly the state's two great cities of Phoenix and Tucson represent the 21st century, as it forges ahead to make life both comfortable and rewarding. Come along and take a fascinating journey through the Grand Canyon State via this colorful portfolio. Read more
