Beautiful antique hurricane lantern by the French manufacturer ALG, model No. 6, in very nice and usable vintage condition.
A particularly special detail is the rare marked glass globe with the text “Marque Déposée – ALG”. These original marked globes are not commonly found and make this lantern an interesting piece for collectors.
This lantern was most likely produced between the 1930s and 1950s.
The only minor issue is that the spring mechanism is no longer at full strength. The globe lift does not return completely by itself and needs a little assistance when lowering.
Naturally, the lantern shows signs of age and use, adding to its authentic vintage character and charm.
A wonderful addition to any antique lantern or French lighting collection, while also still suitable as atmospheric lighting for the home, garden, camping, or holiday use.
