Custom Calling Features

Custom calling features give you total control over your phone. You can select the features you want, bundle and save.

Call Waiting

Alerts you with a beep during a telephone conversation that another call is waiting to be answered. It prevents missed calls. Callers will hear ringing on the line – not a busy signal. This feature provides many of the advantages of an additional line at a fraction of the cost.

3-Way Calling

Allows you to add a third person to an existing telephone conversation bringing family and friends together. It also reduces the need for callbacks when trying to confirm plans and schedules.

Cancel Call Waiting

Cancel Call Waiting before or during one telephone call. This feature prevents interruptions on important calls and long distance calls. Cancel Call Waiting also prevents data transmission errors caused by Call Waiting tones when using computer modems.

Speed Calling

Allows you to reach frequently called numbers (local and long distance) quickly by dialing only one or two digits. This feature eliminates the need to look up or remember telephone numbers. This saves time when dialing numbers, especially long distance numbers. Speed Calling also allows fast, accurate dialing of emergency numbers. Speed Calling is available in 8-number or 30-number capacities.

Call Forwarding

Lets you transfer incoming calls to any telephone you can call directly. This feature reduces missed calls – calls can follow you wherever you go. It also eliminates waiting for important calls. Call Forwarding enhances home security when you are away from home.

Ringmaster

Allows you to have up to three telephone numbers with unique ringing patterns (and unique Call Waiting tones if you have the Call Waiting feature). This feature allows you to determine for whom a call is intended (children’s number or parent’s number) or the type of call, whether the call is personal or business. This feature provides many of the advantages of additional lines, but at a fraction of the cost.

Do Not Disturb

Allows you to prevent incoming calls from ringing in your home. Only callers who have your Personal Identification Number (PIN) can override the Do Not Disturb feature and ring your telephone. It prevents unwanted interruptions, particularly solicitation calls while still allowing important calls to come through. Selected callers (friends and relatives) can still reach you by dialing your PIN code. When Do Not Disturb feature is activated, callers will receive a busy signal or an announcement. At this time, callers who know your PIN may dial it and ring your telephone.

Customer-Originated Trace

Stops harassing calls. Customer Originated Trace allows you to initiate an automatic trace of the last call you received. Your Telephone Company Annoyance Call Center will automatically receive a message containing the phone number where the obscene or abusive call originated (if within the local service area), plus the time and date of the call. It is necessary, however, to call the Annoyance Call Center before the end of the next business day and report the date and time of the call to be investigated.

Auto Recall

Automatically redials the last number you dialed. This feature will automatically attempt to place the call every minute for half an hour. When the line becomes free, you will hear a special ring (short-short-long ring cycle). Then pick up the receiver and the number you were calling will ring.

Selective Call Acceptance

Allows the customer to select up to 10 phone numbers from which calls are to be received. All other calls are routed to a recorded announcement that informs the caller that you do not wish to receive his call – you will not be bothered with any unwanted calls.

Distinctive Ringing

Screens incoming calls. You begin by making your list of up to four ‘selected’ numbers after accessing your Distinctive Ringing service. Your phone will signal you with a special ring (short-long-short ring cycle) when someone from your list is calling.

Selective Call Forwarding

Allows you to select another telephone number where calls are to be forwarded, and then limits the forwarded calls to just the numbers on your list.

Selective Call Rejection

Allows you to block calls from up to 10 numbers. You can either block selected numbers ahead of time or block repeat calls. In either case, the caller is rerouted to a recorded message and your phone does not ring.

Caller ID Service

Shows you the calling party’s name and number. Our advanced feature of Caller ID Name and Number will show you the information even when you are on the phone with another caller. This feature requires a Caller ID box that can be purchased from our office or any retail store.

Warm Lines

Allows you to call a pre-designated number or emergency service by simply lifting the handset. Also, if you accidentally leave the phone off the hook, it will call a pre-designated number.

Toll Restrict With PIN

The customer is allowed to have long distance through the use of an access code or personal identification number. The PIN can be from 1–7 digits long and can be changed at any time by the customer.

Calling Number Delivery Blocking Per Call

Enables you to prevent your telephone number from being displayed on the Caller ID unit of the person you are calling. The feature is activated by dialing the Per Call Blocking code and must be activated on a per call basis every time you want your number blocked from display.

Voice Mail

It’s an answering machine without the machine. This feature answers your telephone with a personalized greeting in your own voice. You can retrieve messages at any time, from anywhere, using only a touchtone telephone and your 4-digit passcode. Date and time of your messages is always available.

Why Have A Landline?

A landline phone is more reliable than a cell phone in the event of an emergency. When there’s a natural disaster, cell phone towers are quickly congested with calls to family and emergency services. Landline phones do not rely solely on such towers for calls to get through. In addition, should the need ever arise for a child to call 911, it’s much easier for him or her to do so with a landline phone than with a cell phone that might require swiping, pushing, or unlocking of buttons before dialing.

 FAQ

I have a cell phone. Why is a landline still relevant?

911

There’s a night-and-day difference in how 911 calls are handled between landline and cell phones. A landline call goes straight to the call center and they immediately know where you are. Help is on its way within seconds. Make a 911 call with a cell phone and it’s a different story. A number of hoops suddenly appear, through which you have to jump. You have to tell the dispatcher your address. If you are unable, they may not be able to pinpoint your location. If you’re in a high-density area like a condo or apartment complex, they have no way to pinpoint your location with a cell phone.

So, if there’s an intruder in your home, you can pick up a landline phone, call 911, and set it down. Try doing that with a cell phone and you end up spending several minutes trying to tell the dispatcher your location.

Kids

If kids need to make an emergency call, they know exactly where the landline phone is — every time. It’s much faster and easier for them to call from a landline than a cell phone. They pick it up, dial 911, done. With a cell phone, they first have to find the cell phone, unlock it, find the calling app, dial 911, and then press send.

A woman suffered an asthma attack. Her son, only six years old had learned to call 911 in school. He was unable to give the dispatchers their exact address, but the dispatchers knew exactly where the call was coming from and were able to locate their home quickly and save his mother’s life.

Natural Disasters

Cell towers are more likely to lose power or be damaged in a natural disaster. The cellular system also gets clogged much quicker than the landline system, so your chances of getting through on a landline are much better.

Voice quality

The quality of a conversation is much better on a landline than a cell phone. In fact, we joke amongst ourselves that, if cell phones were all we had and someone came along with a new invention called a landline, that person would be hailed as a hero, win a Nobel prize and sell his company for several billion dollars in much the same way that television went from wireless to cable.

No need to keep it charged.

Reliability, No Dropped Calls!

What should I expect during a power outage with Fiber to the Home?

If your home or business voice service is provided with our state-of-the-art fiber optic network, it requires electric power to operate. To avoid a disruption of home or business voice service during a power outage – and to maintain the ability to connect to 911 emergency services — we at Millry Communications offer you an 8-hour or a 24-hour battery back up on the initial installation, allowing you to maintain the ability to connect to 911 emergency services or any other calls you would need to make.

What Your Battery Backup Can – and Can’t – Do for You

Our battery backups are expected to last at least 8 or 24 hours on standby power, respectively. That means the battery backup should give you approximately 7.2 hours or 20 hours of talk time, respectively.

Our battery backup does not provide power to any services other than voice service. Cordless telephones, home security systems, medical monitoring devices, routers, and other equipment will not run on a home phone battery backup.

I have no dial tone.

Cordless phones can sometimes cause the line to not have dial tone or say “line in use”. Unplug all cordless phones from all jacks and plug a corded phone into the phone jack to see if you receive a dial tone. If there is still no dial tone, please call us at 888-227-5710.

My line gives a busy signal when someone tries to call, but I am not on the phone.

This can be an indication that there is an issue inside the home. This can be a cordless phone, answering machine, or fax machine. Unplug everything from the jacks and use a corded phone to see if this resolves the problem. If you are still having trouble, please call 888-227-5710.

I live out in the country. Can I still get a landline phone with Millry?
